Job summary

QinetiQ in Malvern is seeking a Senior Quantum Engineer to advance cutting-edge quantum technologies for defence and civilian applications. You’ll develop solutions across sensing, navigation, and computing domains and shape engineering approaches.

You will lead small teams, produce documentation, apply systems engineering, and help manage risks, dependencies and technical decisions through analysis and modelling.

Qualifications

• Experience in quantum engineering with focus on sensing, navigation or computing.
• Strong understanding of physics, linear algebra, computational science, or related engineering fields.
• Experience applying systems engineering across the engineering lifecycle.
• Ability to develop technical documentation including requirements, specifications, reports and engineering plans.
• Experience with technical analysis, modelling and problem solving in a complex engineering environment.
• Ability to communicate technical information and work with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Deliver quantum engineering activities and technical work packages in support of project objectives.
• Lead small technical teams and coordinate technical outputs.
• Produce high-quality technical documentation, reports, plans and specifications.
• Apply systems engineering principles throughout the project lifecycle.
• Identify, assess and escalate technical risks, issues and dependencies.
• Support technical decision-making through analysis, modelling and engineering evidence.
