A leading player in civil and transport infrastructure is hiring an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support its growing portfolio of transport technology projects. This strategic hire comes in response to rising demand across rail and infrastructure initiatives, making it an ideal opportunity for someone with experience in environments like TfL, Network Rail, or similar. Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Commercial Manager in implementing and improving commercial reporting systems.
  • Maximise the commercial performance of active rail and transport infrastructure contracts.
  • Oversee cost analysis, estimates, and contract valuations.
  • Prepare resource schedules, activity schedules, and assess delay/disruption impacts.
  • Manage subcontractor activity and relationships, ensuring scope, delivery, and commercial compliance.
  • Lead commercial engagement with stakeholders including internal teams, suppliers, and client-side contacts.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims, variations, and compensation events.
  • Drive internal commercial reporting, financial reconciliations, and forecasting.
  • Participate in procurement strategy, subcontract negotiations, and supply chain oversight.
  • Mentor and support junior members of the commercial team.

Skills / Must Have:

  • Experience working on transport technology projects – particularly in TfL, Network Rail, London Underground or related sectors.
  • Strong civils and rail project background with a firm grasp of cost and contract management.
  • Degree-qualified or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of NEC3 contracts.
  • Excellent numeracy, analytical skills, and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience managing commercial functions across high-value infrastructure contracts.

Nice to Have:

  • Exposure to systems or digital transport infrastructure.
  • Background in KVM, Kubernetes, or technical systems would be a bonus (if relevant from earlier context).
