Description

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team, supporting the delivery of works contracts. This is a high-impact role within a complex infrastructure programme, where you'll act as a key commercial advisor, manage contract administration under NEC3, and help drive commercial best practice. You'll support junior commercial team members and collaborate closely with stakeholders across programme and project teams to ensure compliance, mitigate risk, and drive performance.

This role is ideal for a Senior QS with strong experience working on major utility or infrastructure projects and a confident grasp of NEC3/NEC4 contract administration.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the full suite of commercial functions on capital projects with budgets of c.GBP 84m p.a.
  • Certify contractor payments, raise accruals, and produce monthly commercial dashboards
  • Administer contracts in accordance with NEC3, supporting Project Managers with contract interpretation, CE's, and EWN's
  • Conduct detailed cost modelling from first principles, leveraging SPONS, BCIS, and CU data
  • Oversee alliance subcontracts and review principal contractor agreements to ensure compliance
  • Guide and mentor junior commercial staff, ensuring task delivery is on-time and to budget
  • Drive value for money through proactive contract management and risk mitigation strategies
  • Prepare and deliver commercial presentations and reporting to senior stakeholders
  • Provide support for dispute resolution, including documentation preparation and liaising with legal teams
  • Lead on performance risk identification, insurance claim updates, and rate review input

About you:

You're an experienced QS with a deep understanding of infrastructure projects, contractual risk, and commercial governance. You bring a proactive mindset and the confidence to advise senior stakeholders and drive performance in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.

You will also have:

  • A Master's degree in Quantity Surveying (or similar)
  • Professional membership of RICS, CIOB, ICES or similar
  • Substantial experience administering NEC3/NEC4 contracts
  • High proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SAP
  • Outstanding stakeholder engagement, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • A commercial problem-solving mindset with excellent attention to detail
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring capability
