VolkerWessels UK, based at the Wimbledon depot, seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial functions for the Kingston & Sutton Street Lighting contract. The role focuses on cost reporting, forecasts, cashflow and NEC contract administration on a long-term program.

You will manage subcontractors, develop monthly CVRs and commercial reports, and drive value through proactive risk and opportunity management while mentoring junior staff.

Competenze

• Degree, HND or equivalent in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or related discipline.
• Membership of or working towards RICS, CIOB or ICES desirable.
• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor in street lighting/highways/infra environments.
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge with NEC contracts and long-term service contracts.
• Experience managing subcontractors, cost control, variations and financial reporting.

About the role

Based at our Wimbledon depot, this is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join VolkerHighways' Street Lighting team, supporting the delivery of a £20m long-term contract for the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the London Borough of Sutton. Running until 2031, the contract encompasses the maintenance and upgrade of over 26,000 street lighting assets, including major LED conversion programmes, emergency response services, and critical infrastructure improvements that help create safer, more sustainable communities across South London.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of the Kingston & Sutton Street Lighting contract, ensuring accurate cost reporting, forecasting and cashflow control.


• Produce monthly CVRs, valuations and commercial reports.


• Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, variations and final accounts.


• Administer NEC contracts and protect VolkerHighways' commercial position.


• Work closely with operational teams to identify risks, opportunities and cost efficiencies.


• Build strong relationships with clients, supply chain partners and key stakeholders.


• Support, mentor and develop junior commercial team members.


• Promote compliance with commercial, contractual, HSEQ and governance requirements.

About you

We're looking for an experienced and commercially strong Senior Quantity Surveyor who can lead commercial functions across complex projects. You will bring:

Experience & Qualifications

• Degree, HND or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or a related discipline. Membership of, or working towards, RICS, CIOB or ICES is desirable.


• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within street lighting, highways, local authority infrastructure, utilities or civil engineering environments.


• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge, with experience administering NEC contracts, term maintenance agreements and long-term service contracts.


• Experience managing subcontractors, cost control, variations, applications for payment and financial reporting within operational maintenance and asset renewal programmes.


• Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, operational teams and supply chain partners.
