The opportunity:

Laing O'Rourke is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Senior QS / Change Manager to work on a Data Centre project in Slough.

We aim to transform data centre engineering and construction with goals aligned with science-based targets for carbon reduction and becoming a net zero company by 2050, delivering positive environmental solutions with diverse teams.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of Change Control and Management, including subcontractors.
  • Forecast cash flow and costs.
  • Oversee valuations and procurement processes.
  • Perform senior quantity surveying duties such as measurement, valuation, and work section agreements.
  • Prepare and manage interim payment applications and certifications.
  • Draft, manage, and settle subcontracts.
  • Report and manage monthly costs.
  • Keep management informed of issues or risks affecting the project.
  • Negotiate with clients, subcontractors, and consultants to achieve project goals while maintaining relationships.
  • Advise on commercial risks within projects.
  • Ensure proper execution of contract documents before project start.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally.
Candidate Requirements:
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or Construction Management.
  • Member of RICS or working towards MRICS.
  • Good knowledge of cost management and subcontracting.
  • Motivated to learn and advance professionally.
