Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Reading – c£85,000 plus package plus SUBSISTENCE

Highly regarded Tier 1 Main Contractor urgently seeks a Senior Quantity Surveyor for their busy site near Reading.

This role is suitable for candidates with Fit-out, Refurbishment experience, ideally in projects around £30m in value or fitout schemes as part of major projects, thus a £30m package.

Note: The client will pay subsistence in addition if you live over an hour away, making this role suitable for candidates across the UK.

The company is one of the UK’s most prolific contractors, well respected for bidding and winning prestigious projects nationwide. They boast excellent staff retention, progressive career paths, and a professional work environment.

The project involves a £350m new build of science blocks, laboratories, secure storage, and large communal areas. Your role will be to commercially manage the fitout of these blocks, which amounts to around £30m annually, with at least 5 years remaining.

Responsibilities include:
  1. Analytical thinking and decision making
  2. Order information and systematic data checks
  3. Cost engineering
  4. Preparing activity and resource schedules, analyzing tender documents
  5. Estimating and negotiating with third parties
  6. Planning and reviewing complex contract programmes
  7. Assisting with delay and disruption programmes
  8. Monitoring subcontract activities and commercial progress
  9. Procurement planning and strategy development
  10. Analyzing rates, prices, and managing variations and claims
  11. Financial reporting and reconciliation
  12. Supporting team development and recruitment

The ideal candidate will be degree qualified and a member of RICS, ICES, or CIOB, or working towards it.
