Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team working on a project near Barnsley. The role involves implementing best commercial practices to maximize profitability and financial performance of medium to large projects.

This is a permanent position with NG Bailey. We are open to candidates at both surveyor and senior surveyor levels. The project, starting early summer and lasting approximately 18 months, involves refurbishment works to a live critical data centre, with potential for further work afterward.

Key responsibilities (SQS level):

• Promote safety as a priority in all activities on the project
• Manage and coach Quantity Surveyors or Assistant Quantity Surveyors where relevant
• Review and interpret contract terms, identify and mitigate risks, and explore opportunities
• Ensure contract compliance and liaise with project teams on project status
• Manage change processes related to contractual obligations
• Oversee cash flow forecasting, payments, and receipts
• Monitor and forecast project costs and revenue throughout the project lifecycle
• Assist with procurement and management of subcontractors
• Provide accurate cost reporting, including projections, contingencies, liabilities, sales, and margins
• Develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships to ensure customer satisfaction
• Negotiate final account settlements and facilitate sign-off alongside the project team and Commercial Manager
• Maintain comprehensive records and reports
• Assist in dispute resolution processes

Candidate requirements:

• Experience managing the commercial aspects of medium to large MEP/construction projects
• English and Maths GCSE or equivalent
• Relevant BSc/degree or willingness to work towards one
