Role description:

We are looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Nuclear Consultancy business supporting some of the UK's largest Nuclear work. The projects involve both new build and decommissioning within a structured, collaborative environment focused on innovative solutions and teamwork aimed at delivering programme outputs.

In Quantity Surveying, you'll help manage and deliver our projects on time, within budget, and to the expected standards of quality. You'll liaise with external contractors and consultants, report to clients and stakeholders, and deploy resources effectively.

The role is part of our global Resilience business area, which works to protect natural environments and water resources while powering our future. We address issues like climate change, urbanization, and biodiversity loss, and respond to large-scale events such as floods and wildfires.

Role accountabilities:

  • Thorough understanding and extensive knowledge of NEC3 contracts.
  • Understanding standard and project-specific contract clauses.
  • Ensure and understand all contract documentation, making it accessible to the project controls team.
  • Participate in project reviews, audits, and conduct self-assessments of Cost Management arrangements for compliance.
  • Lead independent project and contract performance reviews as agreed.
  • Provide pre-tender estimates, analyze tenders, and issue recommendations.
  • Estimate using standard measurement methods (NRM2, SMM7, CESMM3).
  • Perform post-contract cost activities, including assessing due amounts, raising payment certificates, and contract close-out assessments, using the company contract management system (e.g., CEMAR).
  • Validate supply chain data for accurate cost forecasting and trend analysis.
  • Manage monthly contract EAC forecasts and advise on changes and variations.
  • Support value engineering and conduct Defined Cost Audits as needed.
  • Collect and analyze current and historical data for robust cost estimating.
  • Mentor and train cost engineers and quantity surveyors.

Travel: Travel to nuclear sites such as Hinkley, Oldbury & Berkeley is required.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB) or significant quantity surveying experience.
  • Membership of a professional body.
  • Experience in complex project environments, NEC3, and cost management.
  • Knowledge of measurement standards (SMM7, CESMM3, NRM2).
  • Understanding of CDM regulations.
  • Knowledge of Earned Value Management and risk analysis.
  • Problem-solving skills and experience in independent project reviews and guidance.
