Job summary

J. Murphy & Sons Ltd in London, Kentish Town, is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Applied Engineering division. The role covers pre- and post-contract commercial activities across multidisciplinary design packages, NEC4 PSC/ECS frameworks, and internal recharging processes.

You will manage cost, value and change, lead CE preparation, and collaborate with discipline leads, planners and finance to maintain forecast accuracy and cost-to-complete tracking.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior QS on NEC contracts.
• Strong commercial awareness in a design-led/multidisciplinary environment.
• Proven ability to manage cost recovery, reporting and forecasting.

Responsibilities

• Confident in a design-led environment and NEC4 PSC/ECS options.
• Support pre-contract commercial engagement and pricing of design packages.
• Manage commercial performance across internal and external projects.
• Lead Compensation Event preparation, valuation and submission under NEC4 contracts.
• Monitor and report cost, value and change for multiple design packages.
• Support time-based cost recovery, timesheet validation and Defined Cost substantiation.
• Collaborate with discipline leads, planners and finance to maintain forecast accuracy.
• Contribute to recharge processes and cost-to-complete tracking for MAE resources.
• Ensure contract compliance with NEC4 and client requirements.
