As part of our Cost Management team, you’ll be involved in a wide range of projects from global and high profile to small and impactful, ensuring they’re delivered on time and to budget. Your expertise in planning, estimating, budgeting and managing costs will drive growth and smarter working.

You will manage the delivery of cost management in the Aviation sector of small/medium projects or significant components of larger cost management assignments, ensuring standards of delivery meet defined objectives. You will also be responsible for delivering the defined scope of work in line with various controls and will have significant technical knowledge and experience in their field.

You will possess the skills and experience to actively support the internal team and manage more junior staff on technically complex projects/programme of works typically ranging between £1m and £50m. You will be developing and maintaining project cost plans and cost estimates to support the governance processes and procedures; managing project budgets and reporting against benchmarks where appropriate; concluding monthly cost reporting, reporting on monthly change in the period; leading on tendering and evaluation process, understanding the different types of procurement strategies to be undertaken; providing the management of the administration of contracts of varying values and complexity, driving compliance and contractual performance with knowledge of NEC suite of contracts

Role accountabilities:

• Assist in the coaching and development of other team members in order to share knowledge, increase team skill level and improve the standard of service delivery
• Work within established financial systems and budgets to produce reports and forecasts and track budgets, overseeing costing and variances in order to manage and control cost variables
• Deliver a number of small to medium cost projects and assignments or significant components of larger assignments, ensuring appropriate use of resources and budgets to deliver the required scope of work within set deadlines
• Provide advice to colleagues on risk management, compliance and associated behaviours, to ensure adherence to Arcadis’ risk and compliance processes
• Present any project risks or issues to senior managers to ensure the project is not adversely impacted
• Analyse and review a range of data and documents to collate key themes and trends, using this analysis in conjunction with own knowledge to provide advice and make recommendations to support cost and commercial management decision-making
• Use own knowledge and experience combined with research of industry best practice to analyse existing processes and policies
• Share knowledge and provide insightful recommendations to assist service improvement and innovation
• Interact effectively and proactively across the organisation, seeking to develop ways to support collaboration with the cost management function, and applying technical knowledge to ensure projects/programmes can be delivered to meet cost expectations
• Provide specialist technical advice to senior management on issues relating to cost/commercial management, providing solutions and actively sharing knowledge in order to support successful delivery
• Manage relationships and collaborate with clients and external stakeholders, in order to ensure client satisfaction and create new business opportunities
• Demonstrable understanding of clients key objectives within the appropriate sector

Qualifications & Experience:

• Provide experience in delivering commercial management within the infrastructure sector
• Excellent understanding of NEC suite of contracts, and associated contract administration and negotiations
• Experience of coaching and mentoring more junior colleagues and emerging leadership skills
• Experience of working closely with external stakeholders to build client relationships
• Experience in managing business relationships at middle-management level
• Capable of taking a project through from inception to completion
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline
• CSCS card holder, desirable.
• Membership of a professionally recognised cost organisation such as RICS highly desirable.
• Experience (typically associated with five years’ experience) providing full quantity surveying service on projects with a value typically in excess of £5m.
• Experienced using web based contract management tools (eg Cemar) desirable.
• Good IT skills including good understanding of Microsoft Excel. Experience of SAP or similar cost and project control management software desirable
• Good understanding of mathematical and financial reports.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Awareness of airport environment desirable.
