Job summary

Building Careers UK is seeking an experienced Senior/Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on major infrastructure projects in the North West. The role focuses on delivering commercial success across utilities, energy transmission and civil engineering works, with close collaboration to project managers, engineers and contractors.

The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of NEC contracts, cost control, forecasting, change management and robust reporting.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Quantity Surveyor in infrastructure, utilities, energy transmission or major civil engineering projects.
• Knowledge of NEC contracts and applying commercial principles on live projects.
• Strong cost control, forecasting, change management and commercial reporting capabilities.
• Experience with Tier 1 contractors is preferred.
• MRICS status or working towards chartership is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor project costs from procurement to final account.
• Prepare cost forecasts, budgets and commercial reports.
• Support NEC contract administration and variations.
• Assess payment applications, variations and change.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and report to stakeholders.
• Collaborate with project teams and Tier 1 contractors to ensure value.
• Assist with monthly commercial reporting and performance updates.
• Support resolution of commercial issues and ensuring contractual obligations are met.
