Job summary

Clarkson Owens Recruitment is assisting a well-established Glasgow joinery sub-contractor to recruit an experienced Quantity Surveyor. The role will involve commercial management from tender through to final account, with responsibilities spanning pricing, variations, payments, subcontractor accounts and final accounts.

The ideal candidate will have proven QS experience in construction, preferably in joinery, fit-out or interiors, and a solid grasp of contracts and commercial procedures.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction sector.
• Experience working for a subcontractor.
• Joinery, fit-out or interiors experience is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial procedures.
• Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
• Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
• The ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines.
• A proactive, hands-on approach with the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of multiple joinery projects.
• Preparing and reviewing tenders, quotations and cost plans.
• Pricing and agreeing variations.
• Preparing applications for payment and valuations.
• Managing subcontractor and supplier accounts.
• Preparing and agreeing final accounts.
• Monitoring project costs, budgets and margins.
• Reviewing contracts and identifying commercial risks.
• Liaising with main contractors, clients, project managers and site teams.
• Negotiating variations, claims and commercial settlements.
• Providing regular commercial reporting to senior management.
