Qualifications

  • Prepare, submit, and agree applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Monitor and control project costs, identifying risks and opportunities.
  • Liaise with clients and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are met.

Skills

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract
Excellent subcontractor procurement and management skills
Proficient in cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting
Strong negotiation and communication abilities
Good understanding of the local South Wales supply chain

Job description

An established regional civil engineering is seeking an accomplished Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing team in Bridgend. With a strong track record and a well-respected presence across the Southwest, the company is renowned for delivering high-quality, sustainable solutions across a diverse range of sectors, including infrastructure, marine, energy, water, and public realm projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a pivotal role within a varied, high-profile project portfolio. Our client, with an annual turnover exceeding 80 million, delivers civil engineering contracts throughout South Wales, typically valued between 3 million and 8 million. The successful candidate will be primarily office-based, with occasional site visits, and will play a key role in managing subcontractor relationships, overseeing applications and payments, and ensuring effective cost control.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor you will:

  • Manage all commercial aspects of allocated projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare, submit, and agree applications for payment and final accounts.
  • Procure, appoint, and manage subcontractors, ensuring value for money and compliance with contractual terms.
  • Monitor and control project costs, identifying risks and opportunities to maximise profitability.
  • Prepare and agree variations, claims, and compensation events in line with contract conditions.
  • Liaise with clients, project managers, and site teams to ensure commercial objectives are met.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and forecasts for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures, contract terms, and relevant legislation.

Our client requires a Senior Quantity Surveyor with:

  • Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the UK civil engineering or construction sector.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC forms of contract.
  • Experience managing projects valued between 3m - 8m.
  • Excellent subcontractor procurement and management skills.
  • Proficient in cost control, forecasting, and commercial reporting.
  • Strong negotiation and communication abilities.
