Location: Manchester, M2 3AZ

Salary: Competitive, DOE + Benefits

Contract: Full time, permanent. 37.5 hour working week; Monday to Friday

An opportunity exists for a Senior or Associate Quantity Surveyor to join our Manchester office, working on a large-scale high-risk residential project in Manchester city centre. The project has an estimated contract value in the nine-figure range.

As a Senior or Associate Quantity Surveyor, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Delivering exceptional QS services under the guidance of the Regional Director.
  2. Providing value while meeting client needs across retail, commercial, residential, and leisure sectors.
  3. Assisting with feasibility studies, cost estimates, and budget preparation.
  4. Preparing tender documents and managing the tender process.
  5. Evaluating and selecting contractors through competitive tendering.
  6. Offering cost advice and value engineering during the design phase.
  7. Developing detailed cost plans and cash flow forecasts.
  8. Managing project financials to ensure costs stay within budget.
  9. Preparing and managing valuations, including interim and final accounts.
  10. Managing changes and variations, with proper documentation and negotiation.
  11. Reviewing contractor invoices and claims for compliance.
  12. Building relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.
  13. Identifying and mitigating project risks.
  14. Engaging in value engineering for cost efficiency.
  15. Maintaining accurate project financial records.
  16. Monitoring and reporting on contract performance, risks, and opportunities.

To be successful, you must:

  1. Hold a BSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent.
  2. Have at least 5 years of experience in a similar QS role, with a proven track record in pre and post contract delivery.
  3. Experience managing various projects with different procurement approaches and client-facing roles.
  4. Possess excellent contract knowledge and administration skills.
  5. Be capable of advising clients on project issues and risks, managing delivery and change.
  6. Lead internal and client/design/construction teams and develop junior staff.
  7. Have strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
