Job summary

BMSL Group Ltd is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join its South Wales commercial team. Based in Ystalyfera with hybrid working, the role focuses on commercial management across high-voltage infrastructure and energy projects, from award to final account.

You will oversee applications, valuations, variations and CVRs, ensuring costs are controlled and profitability maximised while collaborating with Project Managers, Engineers and Finance teams. A long-term career in a growing contractor awaits.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Experience in infrastructure, utilities, civils, engineering, construction, M&E, power, energy, renewable energy environments.
• Strong understanding of commercial and contractual processes.
• Experience managing applications, variations, change control and final accounts.
• Excellent commercial awareness and cost management skills.
• Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
• Good Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office skills.

Responsibilities

• Commercial management of projects from contract award through to completion.
• Monitoring project costs, forecasts and profitability.
• Preparing and submitting applications for payment.
• Managing valuations, variations, and compensation events.
• Producing monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and documentation.
• Managing subcontractor procurement and payments.
• Negotiating subcontractor and client final accounts.
• Supporting contract administration and contractual compliance.
• Identifying and mitigating commercial risks.
• Maximising recovery of all additional works.
• Managing cash flow and supporting debt recovery activities where required.
