Job summary
Novus Property Solutions in Stoke on Trent is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for fast track fit out and refurbishment projects. The role blends home/office and on-site work with hybrid pattern; travel and overnight stays are expected, 37.5 hours per week.
You will prepare and evaluate cost information, liaise with contractors, suppliers and clients to ensure profitability and value in a live environment. Experience in hotel/education/retail refurbishments and JCT design & build is essential.
Qualifications
- Experience as Senior Quantity Surveyor in live refurb/fast fit projects.
- Knowledge of JCT design and build contracts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; IT proficient.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and monitor cash flow forecasts for designated projects.
- Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the Client/Client’s representative.
- Prepare monthly cost valuation reports.
- Value and authorise payments to sub-contractors.
- Manage sub contractors from procurement through to mobilisation.
- Assist in the development of the procurement programme from handover to estimating.
- Liaise with Contract Managers to establish project specifications and requirements.
- Attend meetings with colleagues and clients to build relationships and communicate effectively.

Hybrid working - office (head office or a regional office - East or West Midlands/North West)/ home and site this would require some National travel and overnight stays as and when required - working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week, typically 8.30am – 5.00pm

Within our expanding Fast track team, covering Leisure (hotels), Education, Retail sectors on various Refurbishment and Fast Track fit out projects working in a live environment , from home/office and on site, collaborating with your team in an environment that is inclusive and fair for everyone.
The role is to obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials, and services for designated Fit out and Refurbishment projects. Whilst liaising with Contractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of designated project/ contracts.
Working on a broad range of works including Hotel and Student accommodation and Retail white box refurbishments works. We require a good all round Quantity Surveyor with sector specific fit out experience.

An outline of your responsibility as a Senior Quantity Surveyor
Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids, and tenders to demanding timescales.
Assist in the development of the procurement programme from handover to estimating
Manage sub contractors from procurement through to mobilisation including reviewing applications, assessing variations, issuing relevant certificates in accordance with contract requirements
Prepare and monitor cash flow forecast for designated projects.
Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the Client/Client’s representative.
Prepare monthly cost valuation reports
Submit invoices for certified value and ensure payments are received on time.
Value and authorise payments to sub-contractors.
Liaise with Contract Managers to establish the project specification and requirements.
Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or Clients/Customers when necessary, building relationships and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
Monitor the contract progress, assess, and report any changes that may affect project costs and or time scale.
Assist in the control of contract budgets.
About You
You will have experience of working as a Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Education, Retail or Leisure Refurbishment/Fast Fit environment ideally on projects in a live environment, which will give you the knowledge to hit the ground running and contribute effectively to the team. Knowledge of JCT design and build forms of contract is essential for the role. Attention to detail and great written and verbal communication skills will be essential to your success. And you will be an expert with IT with proficient MS office skills. You also must hold a Full UK Driving Licence as travel is a must with this role.
