Job summary

Novus Property Solutions is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our fast track refurbishment teams covering Leisure, Education and Retail sectors. The role involves cost evaluation for live projects, procurement coordination, and liaison with Contractors, Clients and Suppliers.

You will work from home/office and on site, with required travel and occasional overnight stays. You should bring experience in refurbishment/fast fit environments, knowledge of JCT contracts, strong IT and communication

Qualifications

• Experience as Quantity Surveyor in Education, Retail or Leisure refurbishment/fast fit environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, and ICT proficiency.
• Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel nationally.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids and tenders.
• Manage procurement from handover to estimating and mobilisation.
• Oversee sub-contractors from procurement to payment applications.
• Prepare cash flow forecasts and cost valuation reports.
• Attend meetings with Clients and Contractors and communicate progress clearly.
• Monitor contract progress and report cost and time changes.

Based : Stoke on Trent Head Office base - Hybrid working - office (head office or a regional office)/ home and site this would require some National travel and overnight stays as and when required - working Monday to Friday 37.5 hours per week, typically 8.30am – 5.00pm

Within our Fast track team, covering Leisure (hotels), Education, Retail sectors on various Refurbishment and Fast Track fit out projects working in a live environment , you will work both from home/office and on site, collaborating with your team in an environment that is inclusive and fair for everyone.

The role is to obtain and evaluate information to ensure a realistic cost for the supply of works, goods, materials, and services for designated Fit out and Refurbishment projects. Whilst liaising with Contractors, Suppliers and Clients to ensure information, costs, profitability and value meet the requirements of designated project/ contracts.

Working on a broad range of works including Hotel and Student accommodation Refurbishments works. We require a good all round Quantity Surveyor or with sector specific experience.

An outline of your responsibility as a Quantity Surveyor

• Assist in the preparation, processing and selection of estimates, bids, and tenders to demanding timescales.
• Assist in the development of the procurement programme from handover to estimating
• Manage sub contractors from procurement through to mobilisation including reviewing applications, assessing variations, issuing relevant certificates in accordance with contract requirements
• Prepare and monitor cash flow forecast for designated projects.
• Prepare and submit monthly applications for payment to the Client/Client’s representative.
• Prepare monthly cost valuation reports
• Submit invoices for certified value and ensure payments are received on time.
• Value and authorise payments to sub-contractors.
• Liaise with Contract Managers to establish the project specification and requirements.
• Attend and contribute to meetings with work colleagues and or Clients/Customers when necessary, building relationships and demonstrating excellent communication skills.
• Monitor the contract progress, assess, and report any changes that may affect project costs and or time scale.
• Assist in the control of contract budgets.

About You

You will have experience of working as a Quantity Surveyor within the Education, Retail or Leisure Refurbishment/Fast Fit environment ideally on projects in a live environment , which will give you the knowledge to hit the ground running and contribute effectively to the team. Knowledge of JCT forms of contract is preferred for the role. Attention to detail and great written and verbal communication skills will be essential to your success. And you will be an expert with IT with proficient MS office skills. You also must hold a Full UK Driving Licence as travel is a must with this role.
