Your new role

Our client is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial and financial aspects of projects within the drylining and fire protection sectors.

The successful candidate will play a key role in overseeing the budgeting, cost control, procurement, and contract management of multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with strong industry experience to take on a leadership role and work within a growing company that values expertise and innovation.

Responsibilities
will include:

Managing
the day-to-day commercial aspects of multiple drylining and fire protection projects.

Preparing
and reviewing tender submissions and cost estimates.

Undertaking
cost planning, forecasting, and budgeting.

Managing
subcontractor relationships and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations.

Conducting
site visits and attending project meetings to monitor progress.

Reviewing
and negotiating contracts and variations.

Preparing
and submitting monthly cost reports and valuations.

Ensuring
health and safety standards and regulations are met on site.

Mentoring and supporting junior members of the commercial team.

Resolving any contractual or commercial disputes in collaboration with the project team.

What you will need to succeed:

A minimum of 5 years' experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within the drylining and fire protection sectors.

Proven experience managing commercial aspects of projects, including cost planning, procurement, and contract management.

Strong
knowledge of construction contracts (JCT, NEC, etc.) and industry standards.

Excellent
communication and negotiation skills.

Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Strong
IT skills, including proficiency with MS Office and estimating software.

A relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g., RICS or CIOB membership) is but not essential.

A strong understanding of fire protection and drylining systems and their associated costs.

Experience
in managing both site and office-based commercial teams.
