Job summary

Linear Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor on a major data centre scheme in Dunstable. You will lead commercial management, procurement, and project accounts to ensure profitable delivery.

We are looking for a senior professional with main contractor experience, NEC/JCT familiarity, and strong communication and negotiation skills. The role offers a permanent or freelance option on a high-profile site with excellent exposure.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor with a main contractor
• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Experience managing subcontract packages and accounts
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Strong attention to detail and commercial awareness
• Ability to work independently and as part of a project team
• Experience with NEC and/or JCT contracts would be beneficial
• Relevant Quantity Surveying qualification preferred, although strong experience will be considered

Responsibilities

• Managing the commercial aspects of the project from pre-construction through to completion
• Managing subcontractor procurement, packages and accounts
• Preparing and reviewing subcontract orders and valuations
• Cost reporting, forecasting and financial control
• Managing variations, compensation events and change control
• Preparing monthly applications and payment assessments
• Reviewing and agreeing final accounts
• Identifying commercial risks and opportunities
• Working closely with the Project Manager and wider site team
• Maintaining accurate commercial records and reporting to senior management
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with the client and supply chain

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading main contractor working on a major data centre scheme in Dunstable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS to join a high-profile project and play a key role in the commercial management and delivery of the scheme.

The Role

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of your package(s), working closely with the project team, subcontractors and client to ensure the project is delivered successfully and profitably.

Key responsibilities include:

• Managing the commercial aspects of the project from pre-construction through to completion
• Managing subcontractor procurement, packages and accounts
• Preparing and reviewing subcontract orders and valuations

About You

You should have:

• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Experience managing subcontract packages and accounts
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
