Job summary

STRABAG UK is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead commercial activities across Hertfordshire projects. You will manage the commercial lifecycle from pre-construction to final accounts, ensuring value, quality and efficiency within a collaborative team.

The role requires strong cost control, risk management and mentoring of junior staff, with close collaboration with project teams, clients, and supply chain partners.

Qualifications

• Registered with RICS/ICES and working towards Chartership.
• Degree qualified or HNC equivalent.
• Commercially astute with knowledge of Standard Forms of Contract and Standard Methods of Measurement.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint).
• Experience with a Design and Build Building Contractor.
• Strong communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
• Experience in programming techniques, project controls, risk analysis, contract admin, procurement, cost and claims.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic commercial leadership across projects in Hertfordshire.
• Manage commercial aspects from pre-construction through final account.
• Control risk and cost; manage change and value engineering.
• Prepare internal commercial reporting and contribute to monthly project reviews.
• Manage subcontract and material procurement schedules and contractor appointments.
• Liaise with Design Manager/Project Manager on cost impacts and value engineering.
• Administer contracts, including change management and notices, maintaining registers.
