Job summary

Doocey Group, a family-run utility and civil engineering contractor, is seeking a Quantity Surveyor/Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage commercial and contractual aspects from cost planning to final accounts. The role focuses on cost efficiency, value optimisation and risk management to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years in a Quantity Surveyor role, with strong Excel skills and familiarity with NEC contracts.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience in a Quantity Surveyor role, ideally within utilities.
  • Strong numerical and financial management skills with commercial awareness.
  • Experience in cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior commercial and operational stakeholders.
  • Support Contract Managers in financial management, reporting and performance.
  • Prepare and submit applications for payment and related reports on time.
  • Manage subcontractor processes including approvals, payments and records.
  • Undertake full commercial management: cost control, forecasting and progress monitoring.
  • Produce CVRs, analyse variations and report profitability.
  • Attend client meetings to review financial performance and cash flow.
  • Identify commercial risks and negotiate settlements where needed.
  • Contribute to value engineering and provide commercial input on contract matters.
  • Provide administrative support to the wider commercial team.
