Job summary

Blue Water Recruitment Limited is seeking a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor for permanent or freelance opportunities with an established groundworks and civil engineering contractor. You will manage commercial performance, take-offs, valuations and cost control on projects across the South West, South Wales and the M5 corridor, building strong relationships with clients and subcontractors.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor.
• Strong background in groundworks or civil engineering.
• Proven ability to complete detailed take-offs and measurements from drawings.
• Sound knowledge of valuations, variations, procurement and cost control.
• Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage priorities and make confident commercial decisions.
• A collaborative and professional approach.
• Good communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Completing accurate measurements and take-offs from drawings and project information.
• Preparing and submitting valuations and applications for payment.
• Managing project costs, budgets, forecasts and commercial reporting.
• Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations.
• Procuring and commercially managing subcontractors and suppliers.
• Preparing cost plans, tender information and pricing documentation.
• Monitoring project performance and identifying risks and opportunities.
• Maintaining accurate commercial records.
• Preparing and negotiating final accounts.
• Building effective relationships with clients and the wider project team.
