What you'll be doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you’ll be at the forefront of ensuring the commercial and contractual success of a significant civils project in Glasgow.

Working closely with project management teams, you’ll drive profitability, oversee cost control, and coordinate with clients, subcontractors, and stakeholders to deliver exceptional results.

Your expertise in civil engineering projects will be key to navigating complex contracts and delivering on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the commercial strategy to maximize project profitability.
  • Manage contract cost reporting, forecasting, and budgeting with precision.
  • Oversee subcontract tender processes and administer subcontract agreements.
  • Identify, value, and secure contract variations in a timely manner.
  • Monitor cash flow, valuations, and applications for payment.
  • Ensure compliance with company HSE procedures and Group Minimum Commercial Expectations.
  • Utilize BIM (where applicable) to support progress monitoring and commercial reporting.
  • Provide accurate monthly cost and value reports to keep the project on track.

Who we're looking for

Essential

  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in civil engineering projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction and contract law, including various Conditions of Contract.
  • Expertise in tendering, procurement, and subcontract management.
  • Proficiency in cost quantification and standard methods of measurement.
  • Solid IT skills, including MS Office, and strong numeracy and administration abilities.
  • Valid CSCS card.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and work collaboratively or independently.
  • Excellent negotiation skills and a results-driven mindset.

Desirable

  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS, CIOB, ICE).
  • Familiarity with BIM and its application in commercial management.
