Job summary

An award winning Tier 1 Main Contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor for a £70m New Build project near Watford. The role involves commercial management functions, with a unique opportunity for progression and support for professional development. The project is in its Pre-Construction phases, with a start on site in early 2026.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years+ experience as a Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor.
• Good knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts.
• Previous roles: Assistant Quantity Surveyor, Project QS, Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager.

Responsibilities

• Managing daily commercial management functions through the PCSA stage.
• Handling measurement & valuations, applications for payment, and reconciling accounts.
• Dealing with sub-contract orders and inquiries until practical completion.

Skills

Negotiation skills

Knowledge of JCT contracts

Knowledge of NEC contracts

Education

Degree in Quantity Surveying

Construction Management/NVQ Level 6 or above

Company & Project: An award winning Tier 1 Main Contractor operating across multiple sectors including Commercial, MOD, Leisure, Education, Science and Residential sectors are seeking to recruit an experienced an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to complement their Commercial Management team working on a c£70m New Build project near Watford.

The project is currently in Pre-Construction phases, with a start date on site in early 2026. The successful candidate would have the unique opportunity to be involved in the project from the early stages, reporting into a Commercial Lead.

The opportunity has a clear pathway for progression with full support with further professional development and training.

Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing daily commercial management functions through the PCSA stage in addition to but not limited to; measurement & valuations, applications for payment, reconciling accounts, dealing with sub-contract orders and enquiries, through to practical completion of the project.

• Minimum 10 years+ experience (post graduation) working as a Quantity Surveyor for a Main Contractor.
• Good knowledge of JCT and/or NEC contracts would be advantageous.
• Good negotiation skills and previous experience procuring subcontractors would be advantageous.
• Previous Roles: Assistant Quantity Surveyor OR Project QS OR Quantity Surveyor OR Commercial Manager OR Assistant Commercial Manager OR Project Surveyor.

Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management/NVQ Level 6 or above, or comparable qualification.
