Job summary

Carrington West seeks an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in the water sector to lead the commercial performance of complex projects or portfolios. You will manage contracts, ensure compliance, maximise value and supervise commercial teams on site.

Working with clients, subcontractors and operations, you will produce CVRs, cost forecasts and monthly applications, while promoting safety and best practice across project delivery.

Qualifications

  • Relevant Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or construction-related degree and/or equivalent industry experience.
  • Professional membership such as MCIOB or MRICS would be advantageous, including candidates currently working towards full membership.
  • Strong experience in commercial management and quantity surveying within complex construction projects.

Responsibilities

  • Manage subcontract packages from procurement through to final account.
  • Prepare subcontract documentation and negotiate terms, conditions, pricing and programmes.
  • Assess subcontractor payments and manage variations and commercial changes.
  • Produce and issue contractual notices to clients and subcontractors.
  • Manage change in accordance with the relevant contract, including the preparation and submission of Compensation Event Quotations.
  • Prepare, submit and agree monthly client applications.
  • Work closely with operational and engineering teams to ensure appropriate site and commercial records are maintained.
  • Prepare and present detailed monthly commercial reports and Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs).
  • Produce and maintain accurate project forecasts, monitoring expenditure, liabilities and subcontractor costs.
  • Review and critically evaluate project expenditure and internal cost reports.
  • Lead progress, commercial and risk reduction meetings with clients and subcontractors.
  • Identify opportunities to maximise project value, margin and profitability.
  • Provide contractual and commercial support to estimating and bid teams when required.
  • Promote and maintain a safe working environment.

Job description

Are you an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor in the water industry looking for a change which will offer flexibility and excellent career progression? You will take responsibility for the commercial management, administration and performance of either a major project or a portfolio of smaller schemes.

You will work closely with operational, engineering, client and subcontractor teams, ensuring projects are commercially controlled, contractual obligations are met and opportunities to maximise value are identified.

Key Responsibilities

Experience & Skills
  • Strong experience working within a commercial or Quantity Surveying environment.
  • Experience managing large individual projects or multiple smaller schemes.
  • A good understanding of standard construction contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes and commercial management.
  • Experience managing subcontractors and subcontract packages.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Strong organisational, time management and delivery skills.
  • Good IT skills, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience using commercial or cost management systems such as CEMAR and Oracle.
  • An appropriate CSCS card.
