Job summary

Egis is seeking a Water Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the UK team primarily serving Midlands water companies and the Environment Agency, with potential work across the North West. You will bring NEC3/4 experience, pre/post-contract insight, and strong cost control to drive efficiencies and supply chain engagement.

The role offers progression across UK water, environment, and nuclear sectors, with hybrid UK office and client-site presence. Full RICS/APC support and development are provided.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Quantity Surveying.
  • Full Membership of a chartered body (RICS or APC route).
  • Postgraduate experience in Rail, Nuclear, Water and/or Environment.
  • Line management and recruitment experience for QS roles.
  • CDM regulation knowledge and experience.
  • Site presence required (4 days a week).
  • NEC3/4 experience (A-C-E) on major programmes.

Responsibilities

  • NEC3/4 contract management and administration, client-side.
  • Budget control and payment valuation support.
  • Cost forecasting and Defined Cost determination.
  • Maintain relationships with stakeholders and ensure contract records.
  • Manage pre-contract feasibility, cost planning, tender documentation, and evaluation.
  • Oversee post-contract changes, final accounts, and dispute resolution.

Job Description

Reporting to the Water Cost and Commercial Lead for the UK, your role as Senior Quantity Surveyor will involve delivering work with water companies or the Environment Agency in the Midlands area predominantly, with the opportunity to work in the North West of England in consultancy roles. However, there will be an opportunity for progression between the UK water, environment, and nuclear sectors.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have knowledge and experience in pre‑ and post‑contract management in NEC 3 or NEC 4 ECC and procurement within the UK water, environment, and nuclear sectors. The senior quantity surveyor will be expected to utilise their major project experience and knowledge to drive efficiencies and effective supply chain engagement and contract management.

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will have experience working with Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) and/or Early Subcontractor Involvement (ESI) in design and build major capital programmes.

Key Responsibilities
General
  • NEC3/4 Option A, Option C, Option E ECC Contract management and administration, client‑side
  • Budget control
  • Payment valuation and assisting the PM in payment certification
  • Actual cost forecasting and Defined Cost determination
  • Establishing and maintaining productive and collaborative relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure appropriate commercial records are maintained in line with the contract requirements and oversee any contractual issues
Pre‑Contract
  • Feasibility studies and cost planning
  • Preparation of tender documentation
  • Evaluation of tenders
Post‑Contract
  • Management and administration of construction contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms
  • Cost control and valuation
  • Evaluation and negotiation of change orders or variations
  • Claims and dispute resolution
  • Final accounts and post‑project evaluation
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying
  • Full Membership of a chartered body, such as RICS or a substantively progressed route on an approved APC pathway.
  • A wealth of postgraduate experience in Rail, Nuclear, Water and/or Environment.
  • Line Management and recruitment experience of Quantity Surveyors or Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
  • CDM regulation knowledge and experience.
  • Valid CSCS card, with Water Hygiene Card desirable.
  • Main contractor and/or joint venture experience working client side
  • Site presence and co‑location, minimum 4 days a week
  • An experienced user of the NEC3‑4 suite of contracts (A‑C‑E must have)
