Job Description

We're looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our BP Net Zero project based in Teesside.

The role of a Senior Quantity Surveyor involves managing all costs related to projects across various sectors and industries. The Senior Quantity Surveyor will handle all aspects from initial calculations to final accounts and closeouts, aiming to minimize project costs and maximize value for money while maintaining standards and quality as per contract and client expectations. This role may involve working independently with a small commercial team or under the supervision of a Commercial Manager or higher. It is a full-time hybrid position, with three days a week on-site in Lazenby.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop efficient management and issuance of notices and correspondence
  • Identify contractual and commercial risks and opportunities for the Project Director/Manager
  • Maintain registers for variations, delays, extensions, and claims; implement company policies and procedures
  • Assist in preparing monthly progress valuations and claims for work completed
  • Liaise with the Customer's commercial team
  • Conduct pre-contract tender negotiations and prepare reports as necessary
  • Produce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and contract budget reports
  • Review value management and advise on risk management
  • Prepare, review, and finalize sub-contract documentation
  • Plan change management and cost control strategies
  • Prepare and agree interim payment applications
  • Prepare and agree final accounts with subcontractors
  • Manage subcontracts from placement to final account
  • Monitor procurement plans and analyze commercial comparisons for subcontracting
  • Issue requisitions and award letters
  • Reconcile weekly plant, material, and labor against budgets
Qualifications
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Commercial Management, or equivalent
  • Chartered status or nearing completion with RICS or similar
  • Experience in a commercial role within the Energy Sector preferred
