Job description

Due to continued and increased workload, we are recruiting for a Senior/Quantity Surveyor for one of our clients in West Yorkshire. The role will suit either an experienced QS or an established SQS with experience of NEC form of contract.

All industries would be considered, but rail would be preferable. Failing that, industries such as Water, Highways, etc., would be preferred.

The role involves working with the Contracts Manager to produce monthly CVRs. There is a fantastic progression opportunity, as the QS will be one of the few commercial/finance staff in the business, providing a great platform to grow your career long-term.

Key accountabilities include:

  1. Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost plans, advise on cost-effective solutions, develop commercial strategies, align project delivery with business objectives, and set financial targets.
  2. Tendering & Procurement: Manage tender processes, evaluate bids, recommend procurement strategies, and support procurement activities.
  3. Contract Administration: Oversee valuations, variations, final accounts, ensure compliance, and negotiate contract terms.
  4. Cost Control & Reporting: Monitor costs and cash flow, provide financial reports, and ensure profitability.
  5. Risk & Value Management: Identify and mitigate risks, maximize value through strategic planning.
  6. Team Leadership: Mentor junior staff, delegate tasks, manage and develop commercial teams, foster high performance.
  7. Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Represent the company, lead discussions, build relationships, support bids, and contribute to growth.
  8. Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to legal, contractual, and company policies.

Most contracts will be NEC, with potential for knowledge development on FIDIC contracts.
