Job Opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join one of the UK's largest contractors, working as part of their Highways team on a 10-year framework focusing on infrastructure schemes. The business is a leader in the civil engineering and infrastructure sector.

Role Purpose

Our client is looking for candidates with experience in managing all commercial aspects of the scheme, reporting directly to the Regional Commercial Manager. This role involves actively seeking to minimize costs, enhance value, and target cost through identification and valuation of change.

Duties
  • Measure, record, and value work independently according to appropriate rules and procedures.
  • Interpret specifications and drawings.
  • Develop estimates from first principles, including net and gross estimates.
  • Translate measurements from drawings and specifications, and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of Rates if required.
  • Review weekly and monthly work programs and section schedules.
  • Plan commercial activities to meet monthly deadlines.
  • Understand railway planning and possessions.
  • Collate cost and value information.
  • Prepare cost reconciliation statements.
  • Manage submission and agreement of adjustment events with the client.
  • Gather information for procurement requirements and assist the procurement team as needed.
  • Manage subcontractor accounts.
Experience
  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a main contractor in a civils environment.
