Job summary

JN Bentley is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor to drive commercial and cost control across complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects in the South West. You'll engage early in projects from inception through handover, ensuring value, risk management and contractual compliance.

Based across sites in the Poole, Dorset and Bournemouth area, you will report to the delivery team, collaborate with NEC contract requirements, support junior staff and aspire to progress into management.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field
• Experience and knowledge of NEC Contracts
• Practical mindset with good math skills and ability to manage project finances
• Flexibility to work in client environments to meet project needs
• Valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across region

Responsibilities

• Ensure robust cost management processes with accurate reports, data and analysis for commercial decisions
• Collaborate with delivery team to identify and monitor efficiency plans
• Challenge team members to drive best value for clients in project delivery
• Ensure all project team members understand contractual arrangements to meet client requirements
• Support clients to maximise opportunities and mitigate risks for successful outcomes
• Advise on contractual and commercial aspects to ensure robust project control
• Create and maintain strong client relationships and clear communication at all times
• Provide guidance and support to junior commercial staff
• Aspirations for development into management role in the future

Job description

MMB has been named a capital delivery partner on two multi-million-pound ‘lots’ that will see the company deliver projects across the region through to 2030 - with the potential for a five-year extension into AMP9 thereafter.

Wessex Water serves 2.9 million customers with water and sewerage services across the southwest of England. Set for record investment in AMP8 – more than double that of AMP7 – MMB will bring its strong track record of innovation and direct-delivery to drive a programme of work to improve water and wastewater treatment, water and wastewater networks, storm overflows, flooding resilience, and bioresources.

With sites located across the South of the region including; Poole, Dorset and Bournemouth.

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you'll work on projects that make a real difference to our environment and our communities - from improving flood defences, to upgrading water treatment works and providing nature-based solutions that improve biodiversity.

You will be involved throughout the entire project life cycle, from early contractor involvement, optioneering, tender negotiation through to the design, procurement, construct, commissioning and handover of schemes.

You will ensure that our projects are financially viable, legally compliant, and completed to the required standards.

The Role Of a Senior Quantity Surveyor Includes

What You’ll Need

• Preferably a degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering or related field
• Experience and knowledge of NEC Contracts
• A practical mindset, good math skills, the ability to solve problems and manage project finances.
• Flexibility and adaptiveness to work in client environments to meet the needs of the projects
• A valid driving licence and willingness to travel to sites across your operational region
