Job summary

Carmichael UK has an excellent full-time opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor on a major infrastructure project based in Devonport, England. The successful candidate will lead commercial tasks, monitor costs against targets, and provide contractual advice. Requirements include a Quantity Surveying degree, experience in large civil engineering projects, and a capacity to mentor junior surveyors. This position is exclusive to British Nationals able to meet MOD security clearances.

Qualifications

• Experienced on large civil engineering NEC projects/JVs/Alliances for tier one Contractors.
• Enrolled in or seeking membership of a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar).
• Experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level showing skills in delivering a positive commercial outcome.

Job description

An excellent full-time opportunity exists for a career orientated Senior Quantity Surveyor on a major infrastructure project based in Devonport.

There are two opportunities - One is to set up an ECI package which includes all communications and administrations and the other is to manage the self delivery of a large retaining wall.

Your duties will include –

• To carry out tasks independently and at times, this will involve leading a small group of commercial staff.
• Carry out both periodical duties and one‑off tasks in accordance with deadlines as directed by the senior Commercial team.
• Prepare and agree variation accounts for the main contract and sub‑contracts.
• Monitor cost against targets and contract progress against accepted programmes and work plans in conjunction with other team disciplines.
• Provide input into change control procedures for EOT, delays and performance adjustment.
• Prepare and agree interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts and sub‑contract final accounts.
• Prepare and issue certification and payment of sub‑contractors.
• Provide contractual advice and relevant notices to management timeously to ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations.

Requirements for this opportunity include –

• Quantity Surveying degree or similar.
• Experienced on large civil engineering NEC projects/JVs/Alliances for tier one Contractors.
• Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS or similar).
• Experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level having displaying skills in delivering a positive commercial outcome.
• Proven ability to lead and mentor Quantity Surveyors and Junior Quantity Surveyors.
• The ability to build strong professional relationships to support successful project outcomes.
