Job summary

Talent Hive Ltd is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor based in Wakefield to lead commercial management on water, wastewater and civils projects. You will control costs, prepare valuations, and drive change with NEC3/NEC4 contracts, ensuring robust governance and stakeholder reporting.

You will work across water infrastructure, utilities and civil engineering, mentoring team members and building strong client relationships while operating in a hybrid Wakefield office setting.

Qualifications

• Senior Quantity Surveyor with proven experience on water or civil infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts and commercial controls.
• Experience delivering cost control, CVRs, forecasting and change management.

Responsibilities

• Lead commercial and contractual management of water and infrastructure projects.
• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts, margins and cash flow.
• Prepare client valuations, variations and change orders.
• Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts and handle EWN and CE processes.

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Wakefield | Water Infrastructure | Up to £75,000 + £5,532 car allowance

Talent Hive is recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a major UK infrastructure business, joining it's water division in Wakefield. This Senior Quantity Surveyor role sits within the Water division and will take commercial responsibility for the delivery of complex water, wastewater, utilities and civil engineering projects. The successful Senior Quantity Surveyor will ideally have a strong background across water infrastructure, utilities, civils or heavy civil engineering, together with solid working knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4 contracts. Based from Wakefield, you'll join an established commercial team supporting the delivery of critical UK water infrastructure projects.

The role

• Lead the commercial and contractual management of water and infrastructure projects
• Manage project costs, budgets, forecasts, margins and cash flow
• Prepare and manage client valuations, variations and change
• Manage NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including Early Warning Notices and Compensation Events
• Procure and commercially manage subcontractors and suppliers
• Manage subcontractor valuations, payments and final accounts
• Identify and manage commercial and contractual risk
• Produce accurate CVRs, forecasts and commercial reporting
• Work closely with operational teams delivering water, wastewater, utilities and civil engineering projects
• Build strong commercial relationships with clients, subcontractors and key stakeholders
• Support and mentor junior members of the commercial team where required

What we're looking for

We're looking for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor with:

• Strong Quantity Surveying experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level
• Experience within water, wastewater, utilities, civil engineering or infrastructure
• Strong working knowledge of NEC3 and/or NEC4
• Experience managing cost control, CVRs, forecasting, valuations and change
• Strong subcontract procurement and commercial management experience
• Experience working on water infrastructure or major civils projects
• Good contractual, financial and negotiation skills
• A Quantity Surveying or related qualification
• Professional membership such as RICS desirable but not essential
• Full UK driving licence

Experience across water treatment, wastewater, pipelines, pumping stations, utilities or wider civil engineering infrastructure would be particularly relevant.
