Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major highways maintenance and infrastructure programme in the Suffolk area. You will manage the commercial aspects of a busy project portfolio, ensuring robust financial control and successful delivery.

The role requires strong NEC contract knowledge and a solid background in highways or infrastructure projects, with standout communication and organisational skills.

Qualifications

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or related discipline.
• Proven Senior QS level experience in construction or civil engineering.
• Strong background in highways or infrastructure projects.
• Experience with Highways Method of Measurement / Schedule of Rates.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead pre-contract activities including forecasting, measurement, subcontract tendering and procurement.
• Manage project commercials: valuations, applications, cost control and change management.
• Oversee subcontractor packages and support operational delivery teams.
• Prepare, submit and agree Final Accounts.
• Produce accurate project forecasts and contribute to monthly reporting cycles.
• Identify, assess and mitigate commercial and contractual risks.
• Drive cashflow through effective valuation and invoicing processes.
• Support and mentor junior commercial staff and site teams.
• Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and internal procedures.

A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support a major highways maintenance and infrastructure programme. You'll play a key role in the commercial management of projects, ensuring strong financial control and successful delivery across a busy portfolio of works.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead pre-contract activities including forecasting, measurement, subcontract tendering, and procurement
• Manage project commercials: valuations, applications, cost control, and change management
• Oversee subcontractor packages and support operational delivery teams
• Prepare, submit, and agree Final Accounts

Requirements

• Experience with Highways Method of Measurement / Schedule of Rates
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Advanced proficiency in MS Office, particularly Excel
