Building a sustainable tomorrow

The Transpennine Route Upgrade Project (TRU) is a circa £2b multi-disciplinary project upgrading the existing railway route between Manchester and Leeds through the Pennines. It is the largest rail and infrastructure project in the north of England over the next 5 years.

Your mission

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:

1. Maintaining high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy.
2. Understanding and ensuring compliance with Company Procedures and Policies.
3. Maintaining effective communication with all disciplines within the Alliance and the BAM business.
4. Assisting in staff matters, including behavioral issues, competency, and staff allocation to meet project needs.
5. Carrying out staff performance and development reviews and supporting the commercial training program.
6. Providing commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting, and input to subcontract documents.
7. Managing subcontractors commercially, including processing payments, final account agreements, and resolving issues by negotiation.
8. Monitoring the production of cost performance data and initiating discussions on project performance.
9. Producing and presenting monthly/quarterly cost reports.
10. Identifying and evaluating changes.
11. Producing timely applications for payments.
12. Providing commercial advice to the site team and management on contractual issues.
13. Supporting the financial assessment of insurance claims.

Who are we looking for?

Necessary requirements:

• Member of CICES or RICS.
• Thorough knowledge of construction processes and working methods.
• Successful experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
• Ability to mentor and coach colleagues.
• Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.

Desirable requirements:

• Understanding of construction law and contractual terms in standard contract forms.
• Experience managing multiple suppliers.
• Ability to maintain and enhance client relationships.
• Experience working on alliances or joint ventures.
• Experience in rail projects.
• Knowledge of ICC/NEC forms of Contract.
• Experience with large civil engineering structures.
