The Transpennine Route Upgrade Project (TRU) is a circa £2b multi-disciplinary project upgrading the existing railway route between Manchester and Leeds through the Pennines. It is the largest rail and infrastructure project in the north of England over the next 5 years.
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for:
- Maintaining high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policy.
- Understanding and ensuring compliance with Company Procedures and Policies.
- Maintaining effective communication with all disciplines within the Alliance and the BAM business.
- Assisting in staff matters, including behavioral issues, competency, and staff allocation to meet project needs.
- Carrying out staff performance and development reviews and supporting the commercial training program.
- Providing commercial contact with supply chain partners through pre-contract meetings, contract vetting, and input to subcontract documents.
- Managing subcontractors commercially, including processing payments, final account agreements, and resolving issues by negotiation.
- Monitoring the production of cost performance data and initiating discussions on project performance.
- Producing and presenting monthly/quarterly cost reports.
- Identifying and evaluating changes.
- Producing timely applications for payments.
- Providing commercial advice to the site team and management on contractual issues.
- Supporting the financial assessment of insurance claims.
Necessary requirements:
- Member of CICES or RICS.
- Thorough knowledge of construction processes and working methods.
- Successful experience at Senior Quantity Surveyor level.
- Ability to mentor and coach colleagues.
- Commitment to promoting equality and diversity.
Desirable requirements:
- Understanding of construction law and contractual terms in standard contract forms.
- Experience managing multiple suppliers.
- Ability to maintain and enhance client relationships.
- Experience working on alliances or joint ventures.
- Experience in rail projects.
- Knowledge of ICC/NEC forms of Contract.
- Experience with large civil engineering structures.
