Job summary

Skilled Careers is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a Hertfordshire-based property services team. The role offers leadership responsibility on a long-term refurbishment programme and focuses on commercial performance and team development.

The successful candidate will manage costs, forecasting, subcontractors, and commercial reporting while ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and commercially.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in property services or refurbishment.
• Proven leadership of commercial teams and delivery across long-term programmes.
• Strong cost control, forecasting and reporting capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commercial management of contracts with clients, subcontractors and operations.
• Oversee cost control, forecasting and commercial reporting.
• Procurement and management of subcontracts.
• Prepare valuations, payments and final accounts.
• Contract administration and change management.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Lead and support a team of QSs and Trainee QSs.
• Collaborate with operations to deliver projects commercially and efficiently.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Hertfordshire £80,000 £85,000

I m currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join an established Property Services team.

This is a great opportunity for a commercially strong QS who is looking for a senior position with genuine responsibility, leadership and long-term stability. The successful candidate will be working across a long-term property services and refurbishment programme, taking responsibility for commercial performance while also supporting and developing a wider commercial team.

The Role:

You ll take a lead role in the commercial management of the contract, working closely with operational teams, clients, subcontractors and the wider commercial function.

• Managing commercial performance across planned works and refurbishment
• Cost management, forecasting and commercial reporting
• Subcontractor procurement and management
• Valuations, payments and final accounts
• Contract administration and change management
• Identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities
• Leading and supporting a team of QSs and Trainee QSs
• Working closely with operational teams to ensure projects are delivered commercially and efficiently
