We are currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to lead the commercial services for the Surrey Term Maintenance Contract, ensuring value for money for our client and sustainable shareholder value. You will play a key role in contract management, cost control, procurement, and stakeholder engagement, working in a collaborative environment where innovation and best practices are encouraged.

Purpose of the Role & Your Responsibilities:

  • Lead commercial management of the Surrey Term Maintenance Contract
  • Oversee contract administration, including the TPC 2008 Term Service Contracts
  • Monitor and control workstream costs, subcontractor applications, and budgets
  • Prepare and submit valuations, applications for payment, and final accounts
  • Identify and manage project risks
  • Manage procurement processes, including subcontractor and supplier negotiations
  • Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, and financial requirements
  • Produce and present financial reports and forecasts
  • Work closely with stakeholders, including clients and subcontractors, ensuring smooth project delivery
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and promote best practices in commercial management
  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental standards are upheld at all times

Formal Qualifications Desired:

  • A Quantity Surveying qualification or equivalent experience
  • Experience in highways, civil engineering, or infrastructure contracts
  • Understanding of Term Maintenance Contracts and NEC contract conditions

Skills Required:

  • Strong commercial awareness and contract management expertise
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage subcontract accounts and procurement processes
  • Experience with cost management systems (such as SAP)
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines

Experience Required:

  • Knowledge of cost management systems and financial reporting
  • Understanding of Highways Maintenance and measurement principles (MCHW)
  • Previous experience with subcontractor engagement and supplier negotiations
