Job description

Senior Quantity Surveyor - Infrastructure
London

I'm recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the infrastructure team of a leading construction consultancy in London.

This is a client-facing role supporting the delivery of a major UK infrastructure programme, with responsibility for cost and commercial management across the project lifecycle.

It's a good opportunity for an SQS who enjoys the technical side of the job but also wants genuine client exposure, responsibility and a clear route to progress.

The role

You'll work closely with the client, contractors and wider project team, taking ownership of commercial and cost management activities including:

  • Cost monitoring, forecasting and reporting through to completion
  • Contract administration and commercial management
  • Managing change, cost variance and contract cash flow
  • Preparing and assessing valuations and applications for payment
  • Supporting procurement and tendering activity
  • Reviewing estimates, budgets and commercial forecasts
  • Monitoring project and programme performance alongside contractor and client teams
  • Identifying opportunities for value engineering and improved commercial outcomes
  • Managing change control in line with project governance
  • Negotiating and agreeing final accounts
  • Providing commercial advice to clients and project stakeholders
  • Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
  • Managing commissions and developing strong client relationships
What they're looking for

You'll ideally already have experience working within infrastructure, either within a consultancy, main contractor, client organisation or similarly complex project environment.

A strong understanding of the following will be important:

  • NEC contracts - NEC3 and/or NEC4
  • Cost and commercial management
  • Change management and change control
  • Valuations
  • Procurement
  • Estimating and pricing
  • Cost reporting and forecasting
  • Contract administration
  • Project governance
  • Client and stakeholder management

You'll ideally be degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline. MRICS would be advantageous, although candidates working towards chartership will also be considered.

Why consider it?

This is an opportunity to join an established infrastructure team working on major, long-term programmes where you'll have genuine ownership of your work and regular exposure to clients and senior stakeholders.

There's a strong emphasis on development and progression, with the opportunity to broaden your commercial experience, take on greater responsibility and support more junior members of the team as you progress.
