Job summary

Vortex Companies is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to provide accurate commercial reports and guidance to the management team, ensuring contracts meet financial targets.

You will lead commercial activities across projects, review plans for maximum margin and manage disputes, audits and compensation events. A strong QS background and IT proficiency are essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance, support and guidance on all commercial issues within projects and ensure staff attain maximum potential.
• Develop and expand the commercial knowledge of the team.
• Review all commercial plans to deliver maximum margin
• Provide contractual advice during tendering and identify improvements to procedures
• Ensure the accuracy of commercial data generated within relevant software
• Manage the monthly commercial audit process
• Manage mediation/adjudication claims
• Ensure subcontract process is administered correctly to protect the Company
• Complete monthly review of contract results and performance
• Carry out cashflow and WIP reporting
• Manage CVRs monthly to satisfy Business Unit requirements
• Ensure compliance with governance
• Manage cost to complete forecasts and ensure valuations are submitted on time
• Maximise monthly valuations
• Ensure timely collection of cash
• Deal with claims preparation, final accounts negotiation and settlement
• Manage compensation event process including cost information
• Carry out audits on various contracts

The Role

Mc Allister A Vortex Company is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for the provision of accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the management team whilst ensuring the contract achieves the appropriate commercial targets.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide assistance, support and guidance on all commercial issues within the projects and ensure that commercial staff attain their maximum potential
• Develop and expand the commercial knowledge of the commercial team
• Review all commercial plans to deliver maximum margin
• Provide contractual advice during the tendering process Identify improvements to commercial procedures

Experience, Skills & Experience Required

• Strong contractual experience
• Excellent IT skills and knowledge of relevant software
• Ability to solve problems efficiently
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel
• Ability to effectively prioritise a busy workload and meet project deadlines
• Evidence new ways of thinking which deliver benefits Ability to influence others
• High standard of knowledge in estimating and/or quantity surveying
• Use of Construction suite software
• Use of Microsoft Word, Excel

Education & Experience

• BSC in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline)
• Civil engineering work experience, including utilities knowledge of a wide range of contract conditions
• Three years estimating experience

Skills & Competencie

• Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
• Structural or civil engineering qualification (Desirable)
• Current Driving Licence
