Job summary

Mc Allister A Vortex Company is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for providing accurate and timely commercial reports and advice to the management team whilst ensuring the contract achieves the appropriate commercial targets.

You will lead on cashflow planning, monthly CVRs, valuations, risk reviews, and subcontract administration, support the commercial team, and drive improvements to procedures to maximise margin.

Responsibilities

• Provide assistance, support and guidance on all commercial issues within projects.
• Develop and expand the commercial knowledge of the team.
• Review commercial plans to deliver maximum margin.
• Provide contractual advice during tendering processes.
• Identify improvements to commercial procedures.
• Ensure accuracy of commercial data in relevant software.
• Manage the monthly commercial audit process.
• Manage mediation/adjudication claims.
• Ensure subcontract processes protect the company.
• Complete monthly review of contract results and performance.
• Carry out cashflow and WIP reporting.
• Manage CVRs monthly to satisfy business unit requirements.
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance.
• Manage and review cost to complete forecasts.
• Ensure all valuations are submitted on time and maximise monthly valuations.
• Ensure timely collection of cash.
• Deal with claims preparation, final accounts negotiation and settlement.
• Manage compensation event process including timely submission with cost info.
• Ensure full compliance with company commercial procedures and governance.
• Carry out audits on various contracts.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

• Provide assistance, support and guidance on all commercial issues within the projects and ensure that commercial staff attain their maximum potential
• Develop and expand the commercial knowledge of the commercial team
• Review all commercial plans to deliver maximum margin
• Provide contractual advice during the tendering process Identify improvements to commercial procedures
• Ensure the accuracy of the commercial data generated within relevant software
• Manage the monthly commercial audit process
• Manage mediation/adjudication claims
• Ensure the subcontract process is administered correctly to protect the Company
• Complete monthly review of contract results and performance
• Carry out cashflow and Work in Progress reporting
• Manage CVRs monthly to satisfy the requirements of the Business Unit/Company and provide any other reports which may be required
• Ensure compliance with corporate governance
• Manage and review cost to complete forecasts
• Ensure all valuations are submitted on time
• Maximise monthly valuations
• Ensure timely collection of cash
• Deal with claims preparation, final account negotiation and settlement
• Manage the compensation event process including timely submission with cost information
• Ensure full compliance with Company commercial procedures and corporate governance requirements
• Carry out audits on various contracts

Education & Experience

• BSC in Quantity Surveying (or other equivalent commercially related discipline)
• Civil engineering work experience, including utilities knowledge of a wide range of contract conditions
• Three years estimating experience
• Member of RICS or other relevant professional body, or working towards
• Structural or civil engineering qualification (Desirable)
• Current Driving Licence
