Job description

A large Civil Engineering Contractor with a £134 million turnover is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to work out of their Essex office overseeing projects in the home counties and London. They offer a variety of excellent work and lifestyle benefits and a competitive salary of up to £75,000 DOE.

The Senior Quantity Surveyor will be working for a company that has been established for over 30 years and will require a strong senior candidate with experience of NEC. The role will involve estimating and controlling costs, ensuring that structures meet legal and quality standards.

Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Overview
  • Preparation of internal commercial reporting and any other reports which may be required
  • Preparation of valuations/applications for payment with supporting documentation
  • Preparation of cost reports to the client with contractually compliant supporting documentation
  • Preparation and management of subcontract and material procurement schedules
  • Administration of subcontractor/supplier accounts
  • Agreement of final accounts
  • Undertake the contract administration, including change management and maintain associated registers
  • Identifying commercial risks, opportunities, value engineering, and change
  • Utilise the costing system
Senior Quantity Surveyor Job Requirements
  • Relevant industry qualification
  • General civil engineering experience
  • Commercially astute with knowledge of standard forms of contract and standard methods of measurement
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts and the ability to manage complex cost structures
  • Experience using CEMAR
  • Computer literate with strong skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Good communication skills including presentations and ability to negotiate
  • Experience within a construction/engineering industry and commercial background
