About the role

Our projects offer opportunities to make a significant impact, stretch, test, and develop your expertise. Join our Power Commercial team as a Senior Quantity Surveyor to deliver complex work that matters to our business and be involved in major infrastructure projects.

Location: Scotland, Motherwell - Maxim office with travel to Argyll Substation projects.

This hybrid role is based at Maxim Park (Motherwell), with regular travel to sites in Argyll, including Crarae, An Suidhe, and Craig Murrail, and the option to work from home according to Balfour Beatty's Smart Working policy.

Role Purpose:

• Be a self-motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor within the Commercial Team, delivering one of Scotland’s largest infrastructure projects.
• Manage financial aspects of major, complex projects from inception through tendering, negotiating, contract agreement, to delivery, often worth tens of millions of pounds.
• Enhance your skills in commercial awareness, client liaison, and project management, expanding your understanding of construction industry practices, flexibility, and negotiation.

What you'll be doing

• Manage costs related to infrastructure projects, identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
• Handle procurement and manage supply chain activities.
• Optimize commercial performance through diligent cost control and value-for-money initiatives, ensuring standards and quality are met.
• Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Administer contracts with clients and subcontractors.
• Support adherence to Gated Business Lifecycle processes.
• Mentor and develop junior team members.
• Drive personal and career development, including professional certification.
• Manage commercial aspects of large or multiple infrastructure projects.
