Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Pharma, construction, M&E, or Civils projects.
  • Proven experience delivering NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Strong commercial awareness and proactive approach to cost control.
  • Ability to manage people and situations sensitively.
  • Experience mentoring and managing others.

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Macclesfield

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for Macclesfield to join our Life Science team. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in the successful commercial delivery of projects under an NEC4 framework contract. You will oversee cost estimating and planning, contract administration including procurement, forecasting, and risk management, ensuring that projects are delivered to budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate the commercial strategy, amending with the Commercial Manager to suit projects within the framework.

  • Manage and administer NEC4 Option B, within a Framework environment across multiple work packages and projects

  • Liaise with & commercially influence/challenge the other members of the team and the construction process.

  • Take ownership for, administer & represent the company in commercial & contractual issues, including but not limited to:

  • Preparing tenders, analysing, selecting appropriate s/c & finalising s/c orders, financial & commercially manage to final Account completion.

  • Lead monthly valuations, change management, and early warning processes

  • Oversee subcontract procurement, negotiation, and management

  • Prepare and present robust commercial reports to internal and client stakeholders

  • Liaise closely with project managers, planners, and site teams to drive value and ensure compliance

  • Mentor junior QS staff and promote best commercial practices within the team

  • Prepare & present forecasts, targets & CV reconciliations.

  • Update projected Final Accounts on regular basis and prepare, submit & agree Final Account in a timely manner

  • Involvement in value engineering & design development

  • Maintain & protect JSS commercial & contractual entitlement

  • Site records/admin & document control

Experience

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Pharma projects, constructionprojects, M&E projects or Civils projects

  • Ability to communicate articulately, both verbally & in writing

  • Manage both people & situations sensitively to commercial advantage.

  • Commercially inventive & astute

  • Demonstrate ownership and commercial awareness

  • Effective time management, organisational, interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Have experience mentoring and managing others

  • Able to balance the need to be assertive and pragmatic, when dealing with a broad range of stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering NEC3/NEC4 contracts, ideally on large-scale infrastructure or utility projects

  • Strong commercial awareness and a proactive approach to cost control

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills

  • Proficiency with industry-standard software (e.g., Cemar, Primavera, Excel)

  • Stakeholder management.

  • Commercially managed and delivered post-contract projects from Client Concept to final account, e.g. budget and price control, forecast to complete, payment assessments and compensation events.
