Requirements

You will have a relevant degree or equivalent and be working towards MRICS status.

Responsibilities

You will work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver Capital Projects and provide quantity surveying and cost management consultancy services to the Council, its service departments, and external public agencies, as directed by the Senior Manager for Capital Projects/Cost and Project Management (CP/CPM). You will ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and meet the quality and operational requirements of the client department.

The Individual

You will have a proven record in quantity surveying, cost, and project management across various construction projects. Experience in budgetary cost forecasting, cash flow, fee management, partnership and collaborative working, along with CDM/Risk Assessment, is essential. You should have knowledge of the legislative framework, the Scottish Government, and national agendas to ensure the Council meets its commitments. Strong written and oral communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and attention to detail are required. Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills are necessary to build positive relationships at all levels. You should possess analytical skills for evaluating information and making decisions based on options, with sound risk management and contingency planning within financial, legal, and ethical frameworks. The role requires the capacity to work under pressure to meet deadlines and organizational priorities, and willingness to work outside normal hours if necessary.
