Location: Rolls Royce Rainsway
Role Purpose:
You will support the commercial team in delivering and managing various commercial duties for Rolls Royce projects, including procuring and managing the supply chain. Your goal will be to minimize project costs and maximize value for money while maintaining the required standards and quality.
What you will be doing
Cost Engineering
- Measure, record, and value work independently according to relevant rules and procedures.
- Collaborate with Project Manager and single source contractor on value engineering reductions.
Estimating
- Interpret specifications and drawings accurately.
- Develop estimates from first principles, including net and gross estimates.
- Translate measurements into Bills of Quantities or Schedules of Rates.
- Contribute to tenders with input and commercial judgments.
Planning
- Review weekly and monthly work programmes.
- Plan commercial activities to align with project schedules.
- Understand delay and disruption programmes.
Project Management
- Utilize the Evolution MX System.
- Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims, including valuations and final accounts.
- Compile cost and value reports for monthly reviews.
- Manage NEC3/4 contracts, including Early Warning Notices, Risk Registers, and Compensation Events.
- Monitor subcontractor activities and respond appropriately.
- Prepare cost reconciliation statements.
- Identify savings and opportunities for value engineering.
Procurement
- Gather information for procurement specifications.
- Record and document procurement activities, including interest registration.
- Understand procurement steps and required documentation.
Commercial Management
- Manage relationships with customers and stakeholders.
- Vet contractual terms per company policies.
- Handle cash management, including debt recovery and cash flow.
- Measure works, manage subcontractor agreements, and handle variations and final accounts.
- Maintain a Personal Development Plan.
What we will need from you
- BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying (highly desirable).
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor in construction or related industries.
- Experience working in occupied buildings or campuses.
- Experience with NEC3 Contracts (highly desirable).
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant IT software.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and able to demonstrate initiative.
- Reliable, conscientious, and flexible.
