Our client is an established specialist contractor delivering complex restoration, conservation, and bespoke residential projects across the South West and surrounding regions. Renowned for quality, craftsmanship, and long-standing client relationships, the business continues to enjoy sustained growth and a strong pipeline of secured work.

As part of its next phase of development, the company is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to take a leading role in the commercial management of projects and support the continued evolution of the business. Working closely with the Directors, you'll have the opportunity to influence commercial strategy, improve processes, and play a key role in future growth plans.

This position would suit an ambitious Senior Quantity Surveyor who enjoys responsibility, values quality over volume, and wants to be part of a close-knit business where their contribution is genuinely recognised.

YOUR NEW ROLE

As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take ownership of the commercial performance of a select portfolio of projects from pre-construction through to final account.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing all commercial aspects of multiple projects
  • Producing estimates, cost plans, tender returns and budget forecasts
  • Providing early-stage cost advice and value engineering solutions
  • Leading procurement activities and negotiating with specialist subcontractors and suppliers
  • Administering contracts and ensuring commercial compliance
  • Preparing monthly valuations, CVRs and cash flow forecasts
  • Identifying, pricing and agreeing variations
  • Reporting on project performance, margins, risks and opportunities
  • Managing final accounts and project close-out procedures
  • Working closely with operational teams, clients, consultants and supply chain partners
ABOUT YOU
  • Proven experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor within a contractor environment
  • The ability to manage projects independently from a commercial perspective
  • Experience within heritage, conservation, refurbishment, residential or similarly complex construction environments
  • Strong contractual and commercial awareness
  • Excellent forecasting, cost control and reporting skills
  • Confident negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
  • Experience of JCT contracts
  • A proactive, hands-on approach and a desire to help drive business improvement
  • Full UK driving licence
  • MRICS or MCIOB accreditation (advantageous)
SALARY AND BENEFITS
  • Salary up to 80,000 depending on experience
  • Company vehicle and fuel card
  • Performance-related bonus scheme
  • Company pension
  • 28 days annual leave including bank holidays
  • Monday to Friday working pattern
  • Split between office, site and project visits
  • Direct access to company leadership
  • Genuine opportunity to influence the future direction of the business
  • Long-term career progression within a growing specialist contractor

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially astute Quantity Surveyor looking to step into a highly influential role within a respected specialist contractor, working on technically challenging projects where quality and craftsmanship are at the heart of everything they do.

Our client can only consider applications from candidates with a valid legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
