About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a respected, multidisciplinary construction consultancy with a strong track record across the UK. Renowned for delivering expert commercial and project services, the consultancy plays a pivotal role in nationally significant infrastructure projects, with particular expertise in electrical transmission and power distribution.

This full-time role offers flexibility in location, with requirement travel to Bury St Edmunds (approximately 1‑2 days per week) to support the delivery of complex utility infrastructure projects, including overhead powerlines and electrical substations.

You will have the chance to contribute to National Grid’s Great Grid Upgrade – the largest transformation of the UK electricity network in a generation. This high‑profile programme forms part of National Grid’s £30bn investment across England and Wales over the next four years, connecting renewable energy to homes and businesses, modernising critical electrical infrastructure, and supporting the UK’s transition to net zero.

Key Responsibilities
  • Financial Oversight: Manage project budgets, forecasts, and actual costs, maintaining strict financial control on high‑value infrastructure schemes.
  • Contract Administration: Administer NEC3/NEC4 contracts, including compensation events, variations, and compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Pre‑Construction Involvement: Support early‑stage activities such as consents, enabling works, and pre‑construction services agreements (PCSAs).
  • Risk Management: Identify commercial risks and opportunities, providing guidance on mitigation strategies.
  • Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare accurate and timely cost plans and financial reports for clients and internal teams.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with clients, project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure efficient delivery.
  • Site Visits: Undertake occasional site visits to monitor progress and maintain commercial oversight.
About You
  • Sector Experience: Proven experience in infrastructure Quantity Surveying, ideally within utilities, power, or electrical sectors.
  • Contract Knowledge: Strong working knowledge of NEC3/NEC4 contracts.
  • Professional Skills: Excellent financial management, negotiation, and communication abilities.
  • Qualifications: Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
  • Professional Membership: RICS or equivalent chartership is desirable but not essential.
Why Join?

This is an excellent opportunity to work with a consultancy known for its collaborative, pragmatic approach and strong relationships with major infrastructure clients. You’ll have the chance to make a real impact on projects that power communities and support critical national infrastructure, while enjoying a flexible and supportive working environment.

If you are a confident, contract‑savvy Senior QS looking to apply your expertise in a high‑impact sector, we’d love to hear from you.
