The project is a Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Plant Project, based in Somerset.

This is a site-based role at Hinckley Point C. Senior Quantity Surveyor will be required to be there 5 days a week. Therefore, suitable candidates will be local or live within an easy commute to Hinckley Point C.

Candidates with experience working for contractors or employers on large-scale infrastructure projects are desired.

Responsibilities and Duties

Senior Quantity Surveyor duties will be :

  • To monitor, record and report on Tier 1 contractor costs
  • Conduct valuations
  • Carry out value variations
  • Assisting with commercial activities within a major project producing an efficient cost-effective financial result to the business.
  • Build, develop & maintain a network of strong relationships with key stakeholders such as subcontractors & clients.
  • Negotiating with clients and subcontractors
  • Managing a team of junior quantity surveyors
  • Ensuring compliance with building regulations

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor
  • Previous experience on a large-scale infrastructure project
  • Experience of leading all aspects of commercial activities within a major project producing an efficient cost-effective financial result to the business.
  • Negotiating with clients and subcontractors
  • Knowledge related to costs
  • A good understanding of the construction industry
  • Good organisation skills to be able to organise and prioritise your workload
  • Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook

Qualifications/Educational Requirements

  • An HNC or BSc In Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) is strongly preferred.
  • MRICS / Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors membership status is preferred, but not essential
