Job summary

Vital Energi Utilities Limited in Scotland is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a strong track record in construction and aviation experience to join our Commercial team.

You will support the financial management of airport contracts, manage cost reporting, CVRs, payments, variations, and subcontracts, working closely with Contracts Managers and Project Managers.

Qualifications

• Senior Quantity Surveyor with a successful track record in construction.
• BSc level in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent).
• Strong understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 Contracts, including Options A–E, predominantly A.
• Membership of MRICS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Provide commercial support to develop a proactive site team and manage contractual obligations.
• Vet contract documentation to ensure compatibility with tender and negotiations.
• Create and maintain Commercial Risk Registers for contracts and implement mitigations.
• Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant and subcontract packages; evaluate quotations and issue purchase orders.
• Prepare and submit applications for payment, monitor progress and payments with clients.
• Measure, agree variations, loss and expense claims, and support final accounts.
• Monitor on-site record keeping and issue notices as required.
• Prepare monthly Cost Value Reconcilations (CVRs) and Cash/Spend Profiles; attend Contract Review Meetings.
• Authorise and code suppliers' and subcontractors' invoices for payment; manage interim valuations.
• Measure, certify and agree subcontractor valuations and final accounts; issue notices.

If so, due to our continuing success, we are experiencing rapid and extensive growth across all business sectors and are looking to recruit a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a successful background in construction and experience within the aviation industry.

You will join our Commercial team, with a focus supporting airport contracts to be based in Scotland.

You will support the financial management of contracts in partnership with the Contracts Managers and/or Project Managers.

What You Will Be Doing

• Work in partnership with site management, providing commercial support as required to develop a proactive site team and ensure contractual obligations are identified and administered.


• Vet contract documentation upon receipt from the client to ensure compatibility with the Company's tender submission and subsequent negotiations.


• Produce a Commercial Risk Register for each contract, monitoring risk and assisting in the implementation of agreed mitigation measures.


• Prepare and issue enquiries for major plant, equipment and subcontract packages. Commercially evaluate quotations, negotiate pricing and terms with vendors, and issue resultant purchase orders.


• Prepare and submit applications for payment and/or invoices, obtain payment certificates and progress client payments in accordance with contractual provisions.


• Measure, submit and agree variations, loss and expense claims, and/or compensation events in accordance with contractual provisions to facilitate the prompt agreement of final accounts.


• Monitor on-site record keeping and prepare and issue notices in accordance with contractual provisions.


• Prepare and submit monthly Cost Value Reconciliations (CVRs) and Cash/Spend Profiles. Attend Contract Review Meetings.


• Authorise and code suppliers' and subcontractors' invoices and submit them to Finance for payment.


• Measure, certify and agree subcontractors' interim valuations and final accounts. Prepare and issue contractual notices to subcontractors.

Who We Are Looking For

• A Senior Quantity Surveyor with a successful track record in the construction industry.


• Educated to BSc level in Quantity Surveying (or another equivalent commercially related discipline).


• A strong understanding of NEC3 and NEC4 Contracts, including Options A, B, C, D and E, with predominantly Option A experience.


• Membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g. MRICS or equivalent).


• Knowledge and practical experience within the construction and/or mechanical and electrical (M&E) sectors.


• Strong commercial awareness and business acumen.


• Full UK driving licence.
