Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: South East in Basingstoke, Guildford or Maidstone

About the Job

We are expanding our commercial management team to support National Highways’ annual £1bn investment programme to maintain the Strategic Road Network. We have exciting opportunities for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our team.

You will lead a team of quantity surveyors and be responsible for the end-to-end commercial and contract management of a complex programme of schemes, each valued from £1m to over £30m. This role offers opportunities to enhance your leadership, stakeholder management, and commercial skills in a diverse and complex delivery environment.

• Lead on the commercial and contract management of all schemes, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and timely responses to contractual matters.
• Provide mentoring, training, and coaching to support team and individual development, including support for those pursuing professional qualifications (e.g., MRICS).
• Oversee supply chain management, including enquiry documentation, quotation assessment, works order awards, and instructions, ensuring timely payment assessments and documentation.
• Ensure accurate scheme cost and value reconciliation, assist in preparing forecasts, and develop risk profiles.
• Manage site-level change processes, including Early Warning and Compensation Event management, and produce necessary documentation for clients and supply chain.

About you

• Degree in Quantity Surveying or a relevant technical qualification; relevant professional qualification (e.g., MRICS, MCInstCES) may waive this requirement.
• Chartered/Member status in a relevant professional body.
• Experience in contract administration, preferably within a portfolio or programme setting, using NEC contracts.
• Proven experience in Quantity Surveying or Commercial functions, providing expert advice on complex commercial matters in civil engineering/infrastructure environments.
• Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage, prioritize, and collaborate effectively.
