Job summary

PPM Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the Building team in Basildon, Essex. You will manage commercial aspects on a diverse portfolio across Essex, London and the wider region, from procurement through to final account on projects ranging £500k to £10m.

The role requires a strong cost-control mindset, with experience in procurement, valuations and final accounts. A main contractor background is preferred; RICS qualification is desirable.

• Proven Senior Quantity Surveyor with main contractor background.
• Experience managing £500k-£10m building projects.
• Experience across retail, healthcare, residential, education, commercial or refurbishment sectors.

Responsibilities

• Full commercial management of projects valued £500k-£10m
• Manage projects from procurement through to final account
• Subcontract procurement, tendering and negotiation
• Cost control, forecasting, valuations and CVRs
• Applications for payment, variations and commercial claims
• Final accounts and commercial negotiations
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
• Support value engineering and cost-saving initiatives
• Work closely with operational teams and clients
• Mentor Assistant and Junior Quantity Surveyors

Senior Quantity Surveyor

Location: Basildon, Essex
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

Our client is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their Building team, working on a diverse portfolio of projects across Essex, London and the wider region.

Projects typically range from £500k to £10m and include retail, healthcare, residential, education, refurbishment and commercial schemes, including works within live and occupied buildings.

This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS to take full ownership of projects from procurement through to final account, working closely with clients, Project Managers, consultants and subcontractors.

Key Responsibilities

• Full commercial management of projects valued £500k-£10m
• Manage projects from procurement through to final account
• Subcontract procurement, tendering and negotiation
• Cost control, forecasting, valuations and CVRs
• Applications for payment, variations and commercial claims
• Final accounts and commercial negotiations

About You

• Proven Senior Quantity Surveyor / Quantity Surveyor experience

• Strong commercial and contractual knowledge
• Excellent procurement, negotiation and cost-control skills
• RICS qualified or working towards qualification desirable, but not essential
